At usmtip, we are always looking for answers to big questions. One inquiry that has been annoying me for quite a while:
- which is good marketing platform for my website?
Is socialization the right way? Or is it a discovery? Where do most of my marketing efforts go?
While researching the best marketing channels, I noticed that "blogs" are different businesses with different customers. Some blogs are technical and specific, and others are general and informative. There is not mass that compact full-plan.
Is it better to get social traffic or find traffic?
In this article, I will give examples of different types of blogs and the most effective channels for them. And in a later article, I will explore why some channels work well for some, but not for others.
let's start…
Backlinks - SEO Blog
Backlinks are a popular SEO blog on the Internet. Brian Dean (backlink owner) doesn't write that many articles. It focuses on a few pieces, but it moves the content a bit. Search engines are giving you the most traffic for backlinks.
is it correct. A blog/website about S E O must have a high of search rank traffic.
It's actually quite amazing that you get 4% traffic from social media because technical SEO content is not expected to perform well on social media. I think the majority of this traffic comes from Twitter because a lot of marketers are tweeting and retweeting SEO tricks.
The other two most prominent numbers are direct traffic (34) and email traffic (7).
This amount of direct traffic shows that backlinks are a great brand. And email shows such a large amount of traffic that whenever you send email, you are inspiring your customers with your high quality content.
Wait, but why? Long format content blog.
Wait but why an interesting blog that has a huge fan base. Its content focuses on Millennials, Hopster and Jack audiences and things that interest them.
The way they write their content is comfortable. It has beautiful pieces of art and graphics that act as a switch as you read. He focuses on long content and his fans are eagerly awaiting the publication of his next article.
Obviously, wait but why get so much social traffic. This is exactly the kind of blog you would expect to perform well on social media.
And then, with 34 direct traffic, it's a great brand.
John Loomer - Facebook Advertising Blog
Although --------- blog is about Facebook advertising, it gets more traffic from search engines than social media.
Although your content is aimed at modern Facebook marketers, you should not expect your posts to generate much interest on social media.
------- gets 9% of his total traffic from social media, which is probably Facebook because his followers receive his Facebook ads and then visit his website.
But just because he talks about Facebook doesn't mean he'll do well on Facebook.
Business Insider - Business Blog.
Business Insider also has a lot of original content and breaking news.
If you look at their traffic estimates, they get a lot of traffic through social media because of their posts about current events.
Here's a tip: If there's one quick way to get the most out of social media traffic, it's to cover the latest news in your field.
And unlike some others, although Business Insider is a popular brand, it lacks direct traffic.
What do these figures represent?
In short, Backlinko, Wait But Y, and John Loomer have direct traffic numbers. This is because of the brands they make. This means that people are eagerly awaiting new content from these blogs and going straight to them.
If you view traffic directly from Business Insider, it does not zoom in on your social traffic. So even though Business Insider is a great brand, people search for its content through search engines or find it on their social media.
The fact is that your direct, search and social traffic depends on your content. No medium is perfect and the traffic of these channels varies depending on the articles you publish.
- If you want to do well with search traffic, you need content that people will actively search for.
You need to write:
- How
- Suggestions
- Odd content
- Etc.
usmtip is a great example of a blog designed for search traffic.
- If you want to do well on social media, you need content that is engaging enough for people to "discover".
You have to write about:
- Current News
- Funny memories
- Popular culture
- Etc.
The content on 9Gig is an example of how to get the latest news and add a fun twist to it (which works great on social media).
- If you want traffic to come directly to you, you have to be an authority, you have to be original, and you just have to be the creator of that kind of content.
Wait but there is a better example of why.
Social Traffic vs. Search Traffic: Which is Best for You?
I hope you understand why some blogs do better with search traffic and some do better with social media traffic. This is related to the type of content created by the readers.
Marketing serious content on Facebook is not impossible, but it is much more difficult than searching. The best explanation I've read about promoting your serious content on Facebook is:
Facebook is like a party. People are gathered there, having fun and laughing, and when you join the party and sell your e-book on how to drive more traffic to your site, you will have no buyers.
So, identify who your content is targeting and understand how they would like to know about your content. Then you can tailor your marketing approach to the idea.
